    Photography by Kalyn: Branded!

There are so many new brands that I’ve just been itching to feature. I’ll start with one of my recent favorites: Photography by Kalyn.

If you have ever been to Southwest Virginia (or if you just do a quick Google image search), you will see breathtaking images of rolling hills, rustic barns, and historic buildings that have been around for centuries. It looks like something you’d see on the front of a 1,000 piece jigsaw puzzle. What an awesome place to call home for lucky ducks like Kalyn Price! Okay, I might be just a tad bit jealous.

This rural backdrop inspires Kalyn to make the most out of each day, capturing the beauty that surrounds her. Everything about her photos is completely natural–the lighting, the setting, the poses…you can just tell by looking at Kalyn’s images that her clients feel comfortable and truly have a good time during her sessions.

We wanted her logo to have this same romantic, laid back style. Kalyn had the idea of using something similar to a Ball jar as the focal point of her brand, with a single flower coming out of the glass. How perfect! The colors pretty much chose themselves, as I knew right away what direction to take from there. The sketchbook was put to good use as we developed the illustrations and majority of the text from good ol’ pencil and paper, then we added fun details, such as the “K” that adorns the front of the jar in Kalyn’s watermark. Of course, the pattern needed this same “countrified” look (is that even a word?), so we made sure that the not-so-perfect marks of the pencil were still present in the elements that make up the other materials.

Kalyn–I’m so excited to see where your business takes you!
