About two and a half years ago, I was flipping through the pages of a Logo Lounge book that I keep on the shelf in my office, and I thought to myself, “I want to have a logo published in this book.” A few minutes later, I was signing up for an account with Logo Lounge and started submitting low-res images of recent projects, determined to get into their next book. When I started reading the fine print that discusses release dates and submission guidelines, I realized that I had just missed the deadline and wouldn’t even be considered for Logo Lounge’s next book. It killed my spirits for about a second, until I realized that I would be patient and submit to the 7th generation of the book instead of the 6th.
Patient, I was. Two years later, after I had forgotten all about missing the deadline and contributing to their site, I received an email notifying me that one of my logos was chosen for Logo Lounge 7. Out of over 36,000 submissions, one of my designs made it into the book!
For my first major publication, this one is extra special to me. The logo that was published just-so-happens to be my own business identity that I created for Bittersweet. It seemed a little ironic that this was the logo that was chosen, but I’ll take it! The cover of the 7th volume is also, in my unbiased opinion, the best looking one yet.
To the hot shot designer who told me that my work “didn’t make him cringe” a few short years ago – we’re in the same book!!
